Biography

Æthelstan is the nom de plume of a British writer born in Taunton, Somerset in the late 1970s. He was educated in the United Kingdom and abroad, studying art history, literature, and philosophy, with particular emphasis on narrative history and myth. Following his academic work, he held roles in diplomacy, publishing, and education, before withdrawing from public life to dedicate himself fully to long-form writing.

He divides his time between Scotland and Greece — residing in the former and writing primarily in the latter.

His first published work was released without publicity and under conditions of intentional anonymity. The book is a mythopoeic and liturgical reimagining of Arthurian legend, The Book of Bors follows a knight of quiet defiance through a world unravelling — a solemn, sacramental journey where grace emerges not in glory, but in silence.

Æthelstan does not grant interviews and maintains no public profile. He writes with the conviction that the work should speak for itself. “Find the dream that calls and the soul that answers — and do not quietly forget.” — Æthelstan
